Cleaning and Tidying

When I walked Bluey along the riverfront, he rubbed his chin on the grass. He immediately stopped when I scolded him, and I discovered an old prawn in the grass. My first thought was that he only had a bath last night, but then I saw a fishing lure. In 20 minutes I found six hooks and two lures with triple hooks, plus several metres of line. Local dogs have needed surgery to remove hooks, and birds have become entangled in fishing line. I bagged and binned the lot. Bluey patiently enjoyed the view.

Our cleaner came today, so we had to tidy the house and do some preliminary cleaning. Anita used a special plastics cleaner to do the perspex walls in the lift. I vacuumed and mopped the polished timber floor because we need to minimise the moisture going onto the boards as they show early signs of cupping.

There was a lot of tidying to be done as we had gear out of the cupboards in the downstairs kitchen. Some of this was bagged to go to the op shop, and some will be dumped. The drawer was difficult to move. I thought there was too much weight in it, but discovered the rollers had rusted and were not rolling. Inox and Penetrene helped, but I will need to look at this again.

A box of wrapping paper proved too tempting for Tilly. She is still confined to barracks but didn’t attempt any escapes today.

We drove to Nerang to buy fence paint, and to seek professional advice about painting over our hairline cracks. Back at home, Tilly had dumped her sheep upside down into her doughnut bed.

We had dinner at the Garden Restaurant in the casino. I enjoyed my salmon with spicy soba noodles, but Anita’s rissotto was disappointing.
