It rained a bit overnight and this morning, but stopped for Bluey to go out for a quick toilet trip. I poured the rest of the kero into the diesel heater tank this morning and the exhaust is cleaner and the heater less noisy.
We had breakfast at the New Italy Cafe. Our specific orders for egg and bacon rolls were accurately followed and my crispy bacon, hard egg with BBQ sauce was delicious.
We left the rest area before 10am and drove through more mist and rain. Some drivers had no lights on, while others overtook us but moved into the left lane too close to the front of our car.

At Halfway Creek we had a chat to a couple travelling in a longer Bushtracker – other Bushies always ask the length of our van as theirs are generally 19 to 22 feet compared to our 15 footer. We loitered there for while as check-in at the Sapphire Beach Holiday Park wasn’t until noon.
As we neared our turnoff a couple of Roadies were driving beside us then in front of us. They didn’t respond to Anita’s CB radio call, but sent a FB message and we had a quick catchup on the side of the highway, and made plans for lunch tomorrow.
After backing onto our site I took Bluey for a short walk to the beach. He was so excited to be on the sand!

On Sunday afternoon I learnt that my neighbour had lost her pet eclectus parrot, so I offered to post a photo on our local FB page. Another neighbour responded and suggested I also post it on a FB page for Gold Coast lost and found pets.

Today there was a message from a neighbour two streets away saying they had found Bickies. I rang the owner to make sure it was OK to share her phone number, and an hour later she called me back with the great news that she had her cheeky bird safely home.
